News:Serbia: Kos expresses disappointment over the failure to implement promised reforms

12 May 2025

The European Parliament, with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Budget Committee, discussed the Western Balkans Growth Plan, a financial instrument worth six billion euros.

During the debate, European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, expressed her disappointment regarding the failure of Serbian authorities to implement the promised reforms. "I am not satisfied with what I see in Serbia. The new Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly promised me that reforms would be implemented quickly, but the same promise was also made by the President of Serbia to the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council at the end of March, yet nothing has happened," Kos stated.

Kos emphasized that for Serbia, it is crucial to keep the promises related to the three media laws, the appointment of the new Council of the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, and the reform of electoral legislation.
