News: Dodik met Lavrov to strengthen partnership between Banja Luka and Moscow

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Minsk. During the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to intensify the partnership between Banja Luka and Moscow.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the Third International Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security, during which both parties reaffirmed their support for the Dayton Accords, considered an essential foundation for peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Balkan region.

Dodik stated that the discussions also addressed the upcoming UN Security Council meeting, adding that an agreement had been reached to extend the mandate of the EUFOR Althea mission in Bosnia.
He further reported that he had briefed Lavrov on the “stable” situation in Republika Srpska and confirmed the maintenance of a high-level strategic partnership with Moscow, reiterating his refusal to align with sanctions against Russia.

On the sidelines of the event, Dodik also met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
