Call for Applications – International Summer School
Applications are now open for the International Summer School "Human Rights in Times of War. The Role of the Council of Europe", which will take place in Rome from 14 to 17 September 2026.
The Summer School is jointly organised by OCEAN (Open Council of Europe Academic Networks), CeSPI – Centro Studi di Politica Internazionale, and the University of Trento. It offers an advanced training programme focusing on the role of the Council of Europe, its Conventions and monitoring mechanisms in addressing the challenges posed by contemporary wars and armed conflicts.
The programme is designed for postgraduate students, including Master's and PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, early career scholars, and practitioners—such as lawyers, judges and civil servants—interested in the law of the Council of Europe, human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
The Summer School aims to bring together an international community of young researchers and professionals wishing to deepen their understanding of the international protection of human rights and to develop their academic or professional work in this field.
Participants will attend morning lectures delivered by internationally renowned professors and experts, followed by afternoon seminar sessions dedicated to the presentation and discussion of participants' research projects and papers. All lectures and seminars will be conducted entirely in English.
Application deadline: 30 July 2026 (23:59 CET) by completing the Google Application Form.
