News: Bosnian Authorities Lifted the Arrest Warrant for Dodik, While National Assembly Approves Establishment of Auxiliary Police Force

4 July 2025

Bosnian authorities have lifted the arrest warrant for Republika Srpska leader Milorad Dodik, after he was questioned regarding allegations of secessionist actions.

On March 18, 2025, Bosnian authorities had issued a warrant for Dodik due to his refusal to appear for questioning. Despite the warrant, Dodik continued to travel abroad, after Interpol rejected Bosnia’s request for an international warrant.

Following his questioning, the prosecutor’s office granted Dodik conditional release, requiring him to report regularly to the authorities.

Just one day later, on June 5, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska approved the law establishing a new auxiliary police force. In June, the RS government had already voted in favor of the necessary amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs.

Republika Srpska Interior Minister Sinisa Karan explained that the decision was driven by the need to have additional units available in emergency situations such as floods, fires, and landslides.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister of the BiH Federation, Ramo Isak, announced that if Republika Srpska introduces this reserve force, the Federation will do the same.
