Serbia and the BRICS, strategy or provocation?

After the BRICS members (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) announced that they would welcome six new members, a resolution was presented to the Serbian parliament to ask the country to join the BRICS block. The entry of Serbia, according to the resolution, would help to create a "fairer" world order, based on respect for international law, but capable of countering, at the same time, Western hegemony.
