News: New round of talks between Pristina and Belgrade. Agreement on a joint commission for missing persons from the conflict

22 January 2026

A new round of talks between Pristina and Belgrade took place in Brussels, mediated by the EU Special Envoy, Peter Sørensen.

During the talks, an agreement was reached to establish a joint commission on persons missing during the conflict. However, the Serbian request to establish and formally recognize a “Community of Serb Municipalities” in Kosovo — as stated by previous dialogue agreements — remains unresolved.

Serbian negotiator Petar Petković stressed that this form of local self-government for Serb-majority municipalities is essential to guarantee the rights of the Serbian community in the territory.
