News: European Parliament Adopts Resolution on Enlargement Strategy

The European Parliament has adopted Resolution 2025/2110(INI) on the EU enlargement strategy. The resolution reaffirms enlargement as a geopolitical tool for ensuring the continent’s security and stability, emphasizing that the integration of the Western Balkans is a strategic priority to prevent influence gaps in Europe. The strategy insists on a strictly merit-based approach, whereby the progress of candidate countries depends on the concrete implementation of democratic reforms, the rule of law, and the fight against corruption. At the same time, it calls on the European Union to make the process more credible, predictable, and politically supported. Particular attention is given to Kosovo and Serbia, for which bilateral dialogue is identified as an essential condition for advancing on the European path and contributing to regional stability. In parallel, the Parliament has proposed gradual integration of candidate countries into EU structures and called for internal reforms to prepare the Union for new members.
