Innovative financing of the sustainable development goals in the countries of the Western Balkans

By analyzing the public debt position of Western Balkan countries, this paper is related to the current stage of SDGs (sustainable development goals) in the Western Balkans - based on the review of green historic and recent financial instruments and their diverse underlying mechanisms. Despite becoming growing instruments to finance sustainable green development, debt swaps and social or sustainability bonds are relative and promising novelties in the region, especially in consideration of the EU Green New Deal.
