Impact of climate change in Southeast Europe: adaptation policies, environmental and human security, and normative resolutions

15 April 2022

This paper examines the impact of climate change in the Western Balkans, identifying human health, security, and quality of life as highly vulnerable to natural disasters and weather changes. As the region faces significant threats by climate change, it is important to actively promote environmental protection, conservation of resources, and the use of renewable energy sources. The capacity-building process, combined with the implementation of climate change mitigation measures, can steer Western Balkans to meeting the conditions for EU membership in terms of transposition/harmonization of legislation and policy implementation.
