EU enlargement: what will be the impact of Hungary’s new government?

The end of Viktor Orbán’s rule and the rise of Péter Magyar represent a window of opportunity to overcome the obstacles that have slowed down common action in Brussels, from Ukraine to the Western Balkans. The new Prime Minister Péter Magyar is already showing signs of a shift in approach, but it will take weeks, if not months, to understand whether he will opt for more assertive moves or more cautious positions in order not to expose himself to Fidesz propaganda. However, many challenges remain.
