Albania: tense relations with Greece

Alfred Beleri, ethnic Greek candidate of the centre-right coalition for the Albanian Municipality of Himara was arrested on charges of corruption for electoral purposes two days before the local elections in the Municipality - still managing to win the election competition.

Now Greece is threatening the use of the veto against the European integration of Albania if Beleri is not relaunched and is not allowed to take the oath of office as the new mayor of Himara.
