BiH: From Dodik’s fall to where?

This Brief  by Cyril Martin-Colonna examines political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina following the removal of Milorad Dodik and the election of Siniša Karan as president of Republika Srpska. Despite his conviction, Dodik remains a central political actor, continuing to shape power dynamics in the country. The analysis highlights persistent tensions between nationalist and pro-European forces, ongoing institutional paralysis, and the impact of external actors. With a focus on the October 2026 general elections, the Brief argues that structural constraints—rooted in the Dayton system and deep ethnic divisions—continue to hinder Bosnia’s path towards EU accession.
