EU enlargement: Cyprus opens a demanding presidency

From the unpredictable situation in Ukraine, to high expectations for Montenegro and Albania, and the need to unblock negotiations with Moldova, the next six months are set to be particularly intense for EU enlargement.
These priorities will unfold under the leadership of the Cypriot government, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June — the EU body that brings together ministers from the 27 member states in its various configurations.
