Bosnia and Herzegovina: The reform agenda is only a first step toward the EU
The Sarajevo government has managed to avoid a new 10% cut to the over €1 billion EU Growth Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but, as experts warn, “there is still a risk of losing the funds if the reforms are not implemented.”
In an interview by Fedeico Baccini with Adnan Ćerimagić, Senior Analyst at the European Stability Initiative (ESI), he stressed that the adoption of the reform agenda represents only an initial step in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path toward European integration.
According to Ćerimagić, the real challenge will be translating the commitments into concrete measures — strengthening institutions, improving governance, and ensuring the rule of law — all of which are essential for maintaining access to EU financial assistance and advancing the country’s accession process.
